  • Eduardo "Lalo" Ángeles Carreño — Owner and maestro (4th generation)

Lalocura is run by Eduardo “Lalo” Ángeles Carreño, brother of Graciela at Real Minero. The two palenques share ancestry, village, and method — every Lalocura release is cooked in an earthen pit, hand-mashed with wooden mallets, open-air fermented with wild yeast, and distilled in clay pot stills.

Per mezcallalocura.com direct: “the agave piñas are roasted in an earthen oven, mashed by hand, fermented outdoors, and distilled in clay pots.” Every bottle qualifies as ancestral method regardless of label category.

Batches rotate constantly and single-batch releases sell through quickly. Ferment & Still is the primary US importer. Availability is thin — serious retailers move Lalocura releases within weeks of arrival.

Catalog

7 SKUs — 5 ancestral ★

Bottles from this producer we've verified in US distribution — each row cites a source. ★ marks true ancestral: the cited source must explicitly state both clay-pot distillation AND wooden-mallet or tahona milling for this specific bottle. Producer-line statements ("our whole line uses X") do not qualify — verification must be per-bottle. Copper-distilled, shredder-milled, or citation-gap bottles are listed but not starred.
