Affiliate relationships

Some links on Ancestral Mezcal are affiliate links. When a reader clicks a link to a retailer such as Caskers, ReserveBar, Flaviar, Master of Malt, or another partner and makes a qualifying purchase, Ancestral Mezcal may earn a commission at no additional cost to the reader. In compliance with FTC guidelines, we disclose this relationship prominently in the site footer and on every page containing affiliate links.

Editorial independence

Affiliate revenue does not influence which bottles we cover, how we rate them, or which producers appear on the site. Coverage decisions are made independently of monetization. We do not accept payment, product samples, or trips in exchange for reviews.

Verification

We only cover bottles we can verify were produced using ancestral methods — clay pot distillation (or wood-and-clay), wooden mallet or tahona milling, and wild fermentation. Bottles that carry formal NOM-070 Ancestral certification from the CRM are flagged with a badge on each review. Bottles produced ancestrally but shipped under an Artesanal or Destilado de Agave label are covered with that context made clear.

Corrections

We correct errors quickly and transparently. If you notice an inaccuracy — a misattributed palenquero, an outdated retailer link, an incorrect NOM number — please reach out and we will update the page and note the correction in the changelog.
