El Jolgorio
The Cortés family's premium curator brand, distributed by Skurnik. Standard line is copper-pot artesanal (labeled with the palenquero name). Only the explicitly-labeled 'Ancestral' bottlings are clay-pot — those come from Sola de Vega palenqueros including Doña Justina Ruiz Perez (the first female El Jolgorio maestra) and Felipe Velasco Jiménez.
El Jolgorio is the Cortés family’s premium curator brand — every bottle names the specific palenquero. The standard line is copper-pot artesanal. Only the four bottles explicitly labeled “Ancestral” — Tobasiche, Coyote (by Doña Justina Ruiz Perez), Tobalá (Justina), Arroqueño (Velasco Jiménez / Velasquez Ruiz), and Mexicano — are clay-pot distilled.
Doña Justina’s Coyote Ancestral is historically significant: the first El Jolgorio bottle distilled by a woman AND the first in clay pots. All Ancestral series bottles are pit-cooked, hand-mallet milled, wild-yeast fermented, and clay-pot double-distilled.
Batches rotate — palenquero attribution can shift between batches of the same bottle (particularly Arroqueño Ancestral, which has been made by both Velasquez Ruiz and Velasco Jiménez).

Catalog
17 SKUs — 4 ancestral ★Bottles from this producer we've verified in US distribution — each row cites a source. ★ marks true ancestral: the cited source must explicitly state both clay-pot distillation AND wooden-mallet or tahona milling for this specific bottle. Producer-line statements ("our whole line uses X") do not qualify — verification must be per-bottle. Copper-distilled, shredder-milled, or citation-gap bottles are listed but not starred.
